GLASS FIBER POSTS

The constant development of materials and the need for an optimal cosmetic solution for prosthetic restorations has led to the development of a new generation of radicular posts: glass fiber posts.

The use of fiber translucent or opaque posts in the restoration of tooth stumps using a composite, frees the dental surgeon of cosmetic constraints that are associated with the existence of a subjacent metallic restoration.
Indications :
- Composite restoration of stumps for front and back teeth, with a peripheral dental casing of 1 to 2 mm.
- Single ceramic restorations incorporating glass fiber posts in the laboratory.
- Tooth restoration with moderate occlusal constraints.
- All prosthetic restorations, where a good cosmetic solution is required and particularly for prostheses without metal frames.

Advantages :
· Elasticity modulus that is similar to that of a tooth.
· Favourable constraint/deformation ratio for the tooth.
· Homogenous distribution of mechanical constraints.
· Improved cosmetic appearance: Cosmetic restoration with all ceramic prostheses.
· Possible incorporation for ceramic restorations done in the laboratory.
· Direct technique: restoration is done in a single session.
· Better adhesion of restoration material to the radicular post.
· Radio-opacity.
· Biocompatibility and no toxicity.
· No risk of corrosion, or of tissue colouration.
· Identical shapes to the inox and burn out cylindro-conical Dentoclic range.
· Identical drills to those in the Dentoclic range.
· Easy removal.
· For translucent posts: light transmission upon polymerisation.

IVORY FIBER POSTS

Features

Benefits

Epoxy resin matrix

Chemically compatible with current adhesives (eg. Dentobond) and composites (eg. Dentocore)

Low elastic modulus ; similar to dentin

More compatible, not traumatic to tooth

3 sizes available

To answer every type of situation

Microporous, machined post surface

High micromechanical bond strength (18-27 MPa)

Made of pre-tensed glass fibers (avg. 8 microns)

Post absorbs / dissipates stress, rather than transfer to tooth

Low elastic modulus (18-47GPa)

More compatible with tooth structure

Prevents root fracture

TRANSLUCENT FIBER POSTS

Features

Benefits

Translucent glass fiber matrix

Aesthetic ; ideal for use with composites and all ceramic crowns

Light transmission, cure primer and cement through the post

Contains a Barium derivative

Easily identified on a radiography
